Paintings by Elizabeth Dennison

Upon my retirement as a Nursery Officer with Middlesbrough Social Services I was invited by my friend Val Harrison to attend Mike Draper’s art class at Great Broughton. At this class I learnt the basics of water colour painting, Mike was a natural and supportive art teacher of painting techniques. After attending a very informative demonstration by the well-known pastel painter Margaret Edwards I decided to take it further and attended a weekend beginners course with Sue Ford at Sandsend. Eventually I attended Middlesbrough Art College where I was encouraged to use different materials and medium to develop my art and to explore the environment for subjects to paint. Unfortunately the course was discontinued after a year due to the withdrawal of government funding. I joined the Darlington Studio Art Group and am still an active member as well as being a regular at the Ingleby Barwick Art Group which I joined in September 2009, it is a very friendly and supportive group with many experienced artists.
